Ladyfish

 

Other names: Skipjack, lil' Tarpon, Tenpounder.

Description: Ladyfish, are actually a member of the Tarpon family. This fish weighs only about 2 Pounds when full grown but can grow up to 4 or 5 pounds given the chance.

Spawning: Occurs in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

 

Habits/Habitat: Ladyfish are very common on Beaches, Bays and passes. It is a vicious feeder and violent fighter when hooked Hence the nick names. it feeds on small fish, shrimp.

Catching: You can use both live and artificial baits. and no matter how fast you reel you cant reel as fast as a hungry Ladyfish swims!

 

Using Ladyfish as Bait

You can use either a whole live ladyfish (If you have hooks big enough for a 12 inch or larger bait) or used the same way you would a mullet, Scrape the sides and cut it into 2, 3 or 4 inch chunks, Depending on the size of your hooks.
